Río de Janeiro Has been chosen to be the host for the olympic games in 2016. This is the first time in history a South American country was able to host the Olympics.
The Olympics represents the human spirit. It is competitive, endearing, and full of politics. This article talks about how Río de Janeiro beat out all these other countries (including our own) for the pride of hosting the Olympic games. It does not address the criteria for how they where chosen over other countries. One of the main reasons they did site: Río de Janeiro's reason for being chosen was it's geography. Apparently they don't like to choose countries who's neighbors played host to the Olympic games in recent years. Despite all the red tape Río de Janeiro's citizens feel a sense of entitlement. The opportunity to host the Olympics also allows their country to attract more business and inspire new generations to play sports.
